Why should I get tested?
When it comes to your health, knowledge really is power. Many dangerous or chronic diseases develop due to the interplay of genetic and lifestyle factors. Knowing your genetic blueprint empowers you to manage any risks and live a longer, healthier life.

Informed action or guided treatment may delay or prevent disease onset or mitigate its effects. This can only be done through understanding your genes and the risks they carry.
How often should I undergo the testing?
A genetic test cannot diagnose a current condition. However, knowing you have a higher risk may help to avoid that condition or enable early diagnosis.
Will it help with my pre-existing condition?
The genetic test cannot diagnose the condition you currently have. Knowing that you have increased risk of a certain condition may help to avoid this condition to develop or to diagnose this condition on the early stage.
What is Genotype?
Genotype is the allele or nucleotide (A, T, G, or C) combination found at the SNP in your DNA. Two alleles are shown because you inherit one from your mother and the other from your father, and therefore they can be different. Your genotype is determined by the genetic test done in our certified laboratory.
What is SNP?
SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) is a specific variation in an individual's DNA sequence. SNP RS is a number given to each SNP for easy identification, for example, rs1042522. You can use this number to search for more information from public databases (HapMap or SNPedia) or from scientific articles (PubMed.)

What can I expect to learn from the Futura Genetics DNA test?
The Futura 28 DNA Test is a simple and non-invasive genetic test designed to reveal your genetic predisposition for 28 of the most common diseases. Apart from your personal genetic risk, you’ll gain insights into the lifestyle choices that can decrease your lifetime risk.
What are the diseases that I'm being tested for?
The Futura 28 DNA Test targets 28 chronic diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, autoimmune diseases, diabetes type I and II, eye diseases and 8 types of cancer. The full list of included diseases can be found here.
Is your test suitable for children?
Yes, you can order this test for your children to learn more about their genetic predispositions and maintain their health from an early age. Our genome doesn’t change with the age so you’ll receive reliable results.
How reliable are the Futura Genetics test results?
Futura Genetics results are based on expert interpretation of thousands of DNA studies on SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms), which are associated with diseases in the human body. This test represents the best knowledge currently available.

Can I use my 23andMe data?
Yes, you can! In 2019 we launched 23andme data interpretation. Please check the “For 23andme users” section to find out more.
Where is my sample processed?
Your DNA sample is processed in a European CLIA certified laboratory.
Do you test my entire DNA?
No. There are thousands of genes in human DNA. We focus only on those that are included in our report.
Do you need any other information in addition to my genomic data?
Yes. Gender differences can elevate your risk for certain diseases (for example, migraine or breast cancer) so we need to know your sex to provide reliable estimates.

Report - Futura 28 DNA test

In what language is the report written?
English or German. You choose! Select your preferred language during the registration process.
What does the report look like?
The full report consists of 26 pages and contains your exact genotypes, your calculated genetic predisposition to 28 diseases and recommendations on how to avoid or delay these illnesses. The report also includes resources to help you better understand your health and your genetic data. You can find a report sample here.
Should I discuss my test results with my doctor?
We recommend that you consult your physician upon receipt of the report, however this is not compulsory. It’s solely your decision who you share your report with.
I don’t want to know my results for certain diseases what shall I do?
Although we believe knowledge is the power we do give you the option to choose not to see the results for Alzheimer diseases.

At the end of the registration process, you can de-select the presentation of the results for Alzheimer’s disease in your report.
What if I get high risk results does that mean I'm sick?
Having a higher than average genetic risk for a certain disease doesn't mean you have the condition or are destined to get ill. It is merely suggesting that your genetic risk is higher. Your actual risk depends upon your lifestyle and environment along with your genetic predisposition. In your report, you will find recommendations on actions that can lower your actual risk.
Do you offer a printed report?
Yes, you can get a printed report for free as a part of our service, just select this option while registering your sample.

How do I order?
Ordering your kit is a matter of a few clicks! Simply click on the “Order Now” button and follow our easy instructions to finalize your order. We will inform you via email when your order is on its way.
Can your test be sent as a gift?
Yes, just ensure you provide the correct shipping address. The gift receiver should create an account on our website and register the test kit barcode to get their results.
Where do you ship to?
The shipping and collection of your test kit is via courier and free or charge.
How much does the shipping cost?
The shipping and collection of your test kit is via courier and the cost is included in the price.
How will my order be delivered to me?
We deliver and collect your sample kit via a courier company. We are using UPS to ship your order.
How fast will I receive my Test Kit?
Shipping usually takes 5-10 business days depending on your location.

How To Use The Futura 28 DNA Test Kit

Do I have to visit a doctor to complete the test?
No, you can complete the test comfortably in your home. Each Futura 28 DNA Test kit comes with detailed instructions to make the collection of your saliva as easy as possible.
How do I provide my saliva sample?
Each kit contains detailed and easy to follow instructions on how to provide your saliva sample. There are only a few things to consider:
  • Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew gum 30 minutes before providing the sample.
  • Additionally, do not remove the plastic film from the funnel lid.
  • Collect your saliva in the included tube with a funnel until it is between the clearly marked lines.
  • Ensure sure your sample contains only liquid saliva and no bubbles.
  • Close the lid tightly by pushing down the funnel lid until you hear a loud click. Unscrew the funnel from the tube and close it tightly with the small cap. Shake for 5 seconds.
Now you can return your saliva sample to our lab. Just ensure your sample is registered.
How do I return my sample?
Please ensure you register your kit prior to shipping it back to us.
It is important to us that your sample arrives safely. Either request a pickup, or drop the sealed envelope off at, your preferred UPS point.
Please remember, you need to book a courier at least three working days ahead.
To order a courier please log into "My Account" and click on "Collect my sample". Complete the form with your details (e.g. date, address and contact number) so we can arrange collection. The courier will collect your sample during work hours between 8.00 am to 6.00 pm from Monday to Friday.
How long the saliva sample can be stored?
After you collect your saliva sample in the plastic tube according to the instructions, it can be stored for three years. You do not need to return it the same day. However, we understand your desire to get your results, fast, so we recommend returning your test to us promptly. We will process your sample and create your targeted report as soon as possible.

Sample Registration For The Futura 28 DNA Test

Why do I need to register the kit?
Your barcode adds an additional layer of security for your genetic data and results. When sending your sample to the laboratory, we use the barcode rather than your name to protect your anonymity.

If you do not register your kit, your report won’t be available online.
How do I register my kit?
Before you return your sample, ensure that you have registered your kit.

You can do this by clicking on the “Register your kit” button on our website at www.futuragenetics.com and creating a new account. If you already have an account, access your profile by logging in through the “My account” button. Then click on “Register your kit”.

Follow our instructions. After you have successfully registered your kit you will receive an email confirmation. The timeline in your online profile will show that your “Kit (is) registered”.
Where can I find the barcode for registration?
The barcode is located on the kit’s test tube and is 8 digits long. Do not include the * when registering your sample.

Sample Status - Futura 28 DNA Test

How can I track the status of my saliva sample?
You can track the status of your sample easily via your Profile under “My account”. You will receive an email notification from us at each step along the way to your full report being completed.
How long does it take to receive the results?
It takes about four weeks from the time you place your order until you receive your report.

Privacy and Security

How are my results and DNA kept private?
Keeping your results private and confidential is our main priority. Therefore, we have invested in the latest state of the art technology to ensure your personal data is protected. Your information is not shared with anybody outside the laboratory.

Furthermore, within the laboratory, we use a barcode system to separate your personal information (like your name or address) from your DNA data.
How do you store my genetic data?
We store your results in our secured database according to the industry best practices industry best practices to make sure they are not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.
How long are my results stored?
We store your results in our secured database until you request account deletion.

How can I pay?
We offer you 3 payment methods for the purchase of your Futura Genetics DNA test - via credit card, PayPal or bank wire transfer.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, you can get a full refund if the kit has not been sent yet. Please contact us either via email at hello@futuragenetics.com, so we can help you further.
Are there any additional fees?
No, there are no additional charges! What you see is what you pay.

How can I reset my password?
Click on the link for “Forgot Your Password” in the Login window.

You will be directed to another site where you are requested to enter your email address. Select “Your Security Question” from the drop-down menu and type in “Your Security Answer” in the below field.

Then click on the “Continue” button. An email with further instructions will be sent to your inbox.
How can I reset my password but have forgotten my security question?
If you cannot reset your password, because you have forgotten your security question please contact us via hello@futuragenetics.com.
How can I delete my account?
To delete your account please contact our customer support center at hello@futuragenetics.com. Your account will be deleted during 10 business days. Please note that after your account is deleted you won’t be able to bring it back.

You have the freedom to choose not to receive your results for the predisposition to have Alzheimer's Disease.

We understand that you might not want to know your predisposition factor for this disease.

Just check on the "I don't want to receive my results for Alzheimer's" checkbox and your Health Report won't have the results for Alzheimer's Disease.

X Hard Copy

Once your results are ready, you will be able to see them live on your account, but you also have the choice to receive them printed in your house.

Receiving the hard copy of your report is completely free of charge and it just takes a few more days to get to your house (depending on your country).
